On the subject of "Cut content" and content to come. + Some DLC/Expansion

On the subject of
In terms of some of the things I see on this sub (this post been shared a couple of places, but I do believe this sub aherds to a different ethic) try to take a (GIGANTIC) step back and think before you toss blind hate. This is meant to contribute.
If you see things missing in the list of missing content on ether cut content part of this post: that's you want in there, il add them in edit. Please quote a source then first, and I will add it to the list.
First... some mythbusting
"OMG THEY GETTING SUED" if you read into the lawyer companies in lead of this, you will quickly see its a money grab. F.ex of their "invitation" to any investors, they say " if you have more than 100 000 invested, contact us. " Or else they don't bother. That should tell you all you need to know about that
"ITS BUGGY AND UNPLAYABLE!" : many games has released in worse state than this, but few of those got a several hotfixes within days of release who stabilised the game. Its weaker on the core consoles launch editions, but it works. And SOME people are having problems. But not everyone.
"BUT THE MEDIA SAY..." and the media needs you to click their articles, when they say "game is broken" people get curious, your opinion is not your own all the sudden, its based on a belief the media always tells the truth. And in serious cases, like the recent events in Washington, they aim to tell stories of truth. Gaming journalism is a bit different. While many do their jobs in a correct manor (please see kotaku before its demise ) Most are based on clickbaiting, you start commenting on facebook post, oand you bring attention to it because you do not agree with a ridiculous title of an article, you already gone into their trap. Do not assume gaming journalism is stable. Its run as clickbait design at 90% of its cases. And its rumor mill central. Perspective and a healthy individuality and respect is IMPORTANT. Adhere to an opinion formed by your own thoughts, not someone else's. Base it on facts not a herd mentality to be part of the herd.
"They removed features!!!" No. If you are not part of the developer team, there is NO way you can be aware how the game was designed and worked on. here is some of the items "removed" and some OPINIONS on that, something everyone need to have, not sit there tossing hate because the game did not meet your specific design you imagined. Also remember they have said several times the game is subject to change. And this was said multiple times.
- Dual Wielding : This was without a doubt hard to implement, without making you overpowered, you have guns in this game you can construct your attributes around, having the added effects per weapon split on 2 weapons, would break the games balance and challenge. Also its not essential, a easy and logical cut.
- Wall running : This probably did not find its logical place, as f.ex it is not meant to be call of duty; they want to keep you more grounded and not have you move around to illogical, (dodge thing is a great feature instead of this) also it serves no longer purpose unless you have skills to reflect it. Level design also does not give this skill any place to be used a lot.
- Jackie cut content : As much I understand; they base this on the cutscenes. If there is an actual source or older gameplay saying it was more, the following still applies : Players spend on average over 10-15 HOURS in prologue. Where they build up a knowledge and friendship with Jackie and the world. learning its basic steps and getting to explore a whole district. Good idea. But to expand on that for 20-30 hours. before even hitting act 1, would destroy the immersion more. You will be TO invested in Jackie, and people would be angry and tossing salt on boards about why they killed him after spending so much time with him.
- Animations and cut scenes : This is one of those I do not have any information about, I feel it's more about the story design. f.ex the scene in the early gameplay where you wake up and find a sexual partner leaving the apartment. Or other stuff for immersion like small scenes like this. The "morning after" scene I do 100 % assume is because the players need to establish their own sexuality, and since its in focus they don't want to force anything over you. I do however miss more animations, but this game has GREAT cutscenes and this is nothing major.
- Train stations and subway : This might been pushed down the line for production, working on the city, its incredible large amount of quests, activities ,voice work, syncing, music and the incredible graphics and bugs. At some point they realised it could ether be added later or that they have problems putting the player into it without problems. Also it might been slow for players, not everyone (#gtakids) would like to fast travel.... in a slow manor... (like really.... fast travel needs to be fast)
- No hair dressecosmetic changes after start : I do believe this one was in there, but with the sexuality and transgender options; they might want to track how the crowd reacts to some of the options. I imagine they want to work towards having this as a free DLC pack shortly down the road. Not having a hairdresser alone seems weird tough, but it might just got pushed down the line to be its own pack complete release like Witcher did.
- Apartments, I seen people say you were supposed to own multiple apartments, but if the homes don't serve a bigger focus, and there is no cosmetic options present to make the home look good or interact more with (say a garage, with the possibility to customise your car, add items to apartment with actual purpose (say for training, shooting range, and so on) These items are logical to add later, as they serve no direct disruption to launch window of game. They are things i really hope do get added, and of course I understand with the bugs and problems during launch that this was not a priority. On a side note. you do get several homes in the games, but not maybe as you imagine them to be acquired. Will not spoil this.
And by all means, contribute with constructive responses. I would love to add ideas to this list also. Share what you think can be added to the game in a realistic manor. Here are some of my thoughts :
Generated quests and activities, based on voice work already present. Police, Hits and other activites who are simple but returns and are good way to even fill the world more up.
There is no secret, but no "failed" status that this game needs more activities. racing, gambling, and so on. some of these elements I expect. Racing is a thing in the game. But I have actually (even after 200 hours +++ ingame) not done this questline, but I do not think its repeatable after the quest (?), and it's apparently not challenging. So that could be expanded on. I expect gambling to be arriving without a doubt in the casino DLC, as if people are not aware there is a unfinished and closed off area in the game of a casino that serves as a probably and quite guaranteed DLC in the future, or why would they have the area present and not just have nothing there. Image (watermarked for stealing) is below. Concept art from CDPR
Roleplaying jobs reflecting careers for f.ex : Corp, trauma, nomad and police. Mostly referring to the generated quests mentioned above in design.
While I wont say what the endings are; some did not enjoy it. I would love some small continuation. But then I realise, what if that is one of he awesome expansions comings.
Boats.....
More cats, I want to be the crazy cat lady at floor 89.
Meaningful items or more memorabilia from the adventure to add to the apartment,
Arcade machines ( probably also coming)
And lastly... remember... Online is coming. We have a hell of a lot of constructive response to give to the developers. Show them what you want, not a soulless hate.
Comment adds:
Jaomaldito : To me the only thing I was expecting alot before the game came out was the implants, you see so many cool npcs with cybernetic arms and legs, you see those in the previews and I was like: "I cant wait to make my merc look more like a machine than human".

------------------------------
And as said before :
You can report any and all bugs here, help the developers bringing the most repeating problems up into prioritising here = https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/
You also have the official forums; who supply known issues, solutions and information in their different subjects both technical and ingame . https://forums.cdprojektred.com/
Here is the concept art next to the area outside the town. No reason to have this present, unless there is a plan for it in the future.

My 1 Year Anniversary of Full Time Day Trading. 3 Years In The Business. What I Wish I Could Tell Myself Years Ago.

This industry has a lack of transparency so I'm more than happy to say I will provide lots of that throughout this post with screenshots. There are LOTS of imgur links to back what I say so it's not just words on a post expecting you to just believe what I'm typing.
This post I suppose is "Part 2" my post back in April, "After 2 years of Daytrading. 7 months full time. Here's my advice". I'm doing this to update everyone who came/comes across this in the future. Yes, it is possible. No, it won't be easy. You will pay homage to the rite of passage into this career. I'll also provide some examples of styles of trading so for the newer aspiring traders, there will be some things I rarely see discussed on forums. So here's to 1 year of Full Time Day Trading

TL;DR - You'll become desensitized to trading. Stubborn to other strategies (There are biggebaddemore lucrative strategies. Don't chase them. Why fix what's not broken? I know what works for me and I'm content with it. No strategy is better than another. It's a personal choice. ). Losing individual trades won't faze you, they're inevitable. Profiting certainly feels better. After a while, you won't be as enthralled to trade every morning, it'll become just another part of your day). Trading is just managing your money through a statistic and the medium to execute it is trading on your platform. Think: "If. Then. Because". Your trading plan should be that black and white. Ask "Why" for everything you do and use. If you can't answer it with documented results, drop it.

I get a bunch of messages all the time from people asking - . Out of those who follow me and chat me seeking further tips through my previous posts. I'll be answering the FAQ's and addressing things I see frequently in this sub as far as trading axioms
Disclaimer: I won't sugarcoat anything. I'll share my experiences and add pieces of advice I'd give to those who are currently experiencing the same thing becoming a full time day trader and what day to day life is like, the occasional distress, (DRAWDOWNS). Some of you follow my Twitter for the past few months where I post my daily watchlists with a snippet that reveals my DayTradingBuyingPower. I do this not to brag but to demonstrate that the account does yield growth, I pay myself, and there are days where the balance does not move because there was no edge. I also do this since nobody else shows their account performance. (Yes. You, Mr. YouTube gurus and wannabe gurus).
We do this for income, the numbers on our accounts are real. Treat it as such. Get your initial capital out of your account THEN try to "Scale your account" with your profits AKA The Market's Money.

I'll go over:
•FAQ's that I get in my inbox (I'm still welcome to further questions if I don't answer here)
•Decision Fatigue (You will experience this)
•The previous year (2019-2020) of ups and downs
•How to use my watchlists that I post on Twitter in the morning to your advantage
•The pivotal moment that changed my trading career (NFLX 10-17-19)
•The road to becoming a full time trader. (It won't be fun unless you're handed the money)
•You'll have a better grasp of my strategy (Between ProTip 4 and 5. ProTip 8.)

There are 10 "ProTips" throughout the post that I wish I could tell myself years back and I'll periodically throw them in here as the post goes on. I make posts long in order to segregate those serious about this business and those who will just become another statistic in the failure rate of this business.

At the end of this post, I'll go over the frequent questions I receive such as: (Answers to FAQ at bottom of post.)
  1. "How do you prepare for a trading day?"
  2. "What would you go back to tell yourself?"
  3. "Books?" (The most abused question, but I get it. I could start a public library with just trading books I bought over the years)
  4. "What is your background?"
  5. "What is a normal day for you?"
  6. "How did you discover your strategy?"
  7. "What did you do/How did you get started?"
  8. "What is your % return?" (Not a fun question since a trading account is not an index or investment account. Intraday traders do not measure performance in %. Most are measured in "R".)
  9. "Is enough to start trading?"
  10. "Why do you need so many monitors"? (This one is rarely asked but I do see it discussed on platforms and people trading on mobile phones love giving flack to anybody who trades on multiple monitors. Hint: Everyone's different. Whatever works for the individual. There are no rules in trading. The only rule is that it works.)

My story:

Background:
I heard about daytrading during the 2008 crash while in high school. We all want to make more while working less. I entertained day trading from time to time but always realized I never had enough money. Horrible mindset because I could have still researched WHILE saving money to put into my trading business.
2015 - I opened my first trading account with Scottrade while in the Marines. Apparently if you have a net worth of over $1,000,000 you can get out early (Biggest rumor ever).
I frivolously bought crap penny stocks. In short - I was a hair away from gambling. What made it NOT gambling was the fact that at least I owned something tangible (Securities of a company) and anything can happen. Buy low sell high was my strategy. Didn't work obviously. No idea what I was doing. I'd buy and hold hoping to wake up to the stock price being way higher and it never happened.

ProTip #1 : If you hold a trade overnight... It is not daytrading. Stop turning into an investor because you can't admit a minor defeat.

2017 - I started taking this business seriously while working in the oilfield as a Logistics Planner (If you're wondering what company since I am asked this from time to time, Google: "World's largest oilfield services company").
No kids, girlfriend/wife or financial obligations. I worked 10AM - 7PM CST and would trade the open from home for roughly 1 hour. Later I was offered to be a Data Analyst... Only downside was... I couldn't trade since I had to be at work now at 8AM CST during the market open. In the moment of signing the offer letter, I was bummed thinking, "No more trading,"
That wasn't the case though. You can still build your trading business with a 9-5 and while never making one trade. The data is there.

ProTip #2 : We all see the same data. It's there forever. Many strategies show their edge both live and in hindsight the same. (Especially if you trade patterns). You CAN build your business as a trader without even taking a trade. You CAN build your strategy while working a 9-5. Just because you're not trading, does not mean you can't build your business through research. You won't know how you'll react to the losses but at least you can diagnose the raw data with a large enough sample size for assurance and confidence.

If you have a 9-5 and want to go fulltime into this business. Stay for a bit, save, live so far beneath your means that it is almost miserable, (depending on your expenses, area you live, family etc) and get a few hundred sample sizes of your strategy! And for your PTO/days off... trade the open. I sacrificed my vacation days to trade.
After 2 years in corporate America, eating cheap food, never going out, saving relentlessly, I made the decision to just do it and resigned. I went straight into the ring of fire known as trading. That was on: September 23rd, 2019
"" (Sound familiar?)

When you hear these types of comments.. your response should be: "Nobody put the time I put into this. The 90%+ who fail, don't have it all written out, computerized backtests, manual backtests, statistics, SOP manuals, JUST like the job I have which is a business, I'm just another cog in their wheel. I'll just be wearing all the hats in my trading business. Instead of Oil&Gas, it's just for trading". One thing I see here a lot is people saying to trade X amount of months/years or make X.

ProTip #3 - Think in man hours, not calendar. Example:
Trader A puts in 1 hour of study/work/research everyday for 1 year. (365 Hours)
Trader B puts in 12 hours of work every day for 4 months. (~1,450 Hours)
Trader A lives in a major city while Trader B lives in the middle of nowhere. (Think cost of living)
2 totally different living expenses and 2 different calibers of dedication. I'd put my money on Trader B because he put in more man hours. (~1,000 more hours on the clock to be more exact).

ProTip #4 - Have a cushion in your account AND your personal bank account. Having a strategy is great but you won't know entirely if you can fulfill and execute your plan until you experience the ups and downs both short and long term. A strategy is constant over long periods of time... there will be days, weeks, and perhaps a month here and there where you aren't making much money. We hear all the time, "Trade like a casino". Casinos don't make money day after day but the odds are in there favor over the long haul.

Month 1 of full time trading was great:
Immediately after going full time, the first month (September 2019 to October 2019), I did super well. Business as usual. No stress. Everything going as planned. No turbulence. At least not like I had ever experienced...

The 2 prerequisites I had before resigning was:
  1. Show consistency in returns. Consistent Sharpe Ratio.
  2. Make a 4 figure trade (I achieved this while short 100 shares on ROKU September 20th, 2019 and even made a victory post if you scroll down my profile's posts.)

First life-changing trading lesson learned as a full time trader:
That money printing spree ended on NFLX October 17th, 2019. Less than 1 month of being a full time trader. Deviating and going against my plan I actually made $500 in a matter of 4 minutes. If you follow my watchlists on Twitter, I always trade with the direction of the gap. If I notate, "Long Watches" that means I will only trade it IF (and only IF) I see a long biased pattern. Likewise I will only be looking to short my "Short Watches". Plenty of times I'll call out a ticker and it immediately goes the other way. No harm no foul because there was no long biased pattern to confirm my thesis.
On 10-17-2019, I went against my plan and it worked.. NFLX gapped up to resistance and I went short when it tanked off of a short pattern.(This is known as fading). The market gave me a free lunch and then some. So now I'm walking on air in my mind:
"I'm an absolute unit"
"I'll do it again and clear another $500 to make it a 4 figure day before 9:30AM Central"
"Should have quit my job way earlier being this good."
Within 30 minutes of the open. I gave all $500 back. Yes I wanted to trade it back. Never have I had the desire to smash anything but I do understand those who do! Yes I stood there and felt like each passing second was wasted opportunity. The next 24 hours were long!

ProTip #5: It's circumstances like that that help you in the long run. FunFact: I never once deviated from my plan since. Not ever again.

"I could have paid for my groceries and electric for the month after 4 minutes of trading if I just took the free pass the market gave me" I felt dumb but in hindsight, I'm glad at what happened. It was this exact instance that married me to my strategy/business plan. The next day and the 7 trading days following. I didn't make 1 profiting trade. My longest ever drawdown - 11 straight trades. While researching I found out this was Decision Fatigue (I'll go over this shortly below)

Put yourself in that situation...
You have bills and your income is strictly trading. I don't care how much a robot you think you are or how strongly you believe in probabilities, when you were in an office less than a month ago making almost 6 figures sitting in an air conditioned office knowing direct deposit is on its way every other Friday no matter how well or poorly you performed at work.. Now you're in the hot seat. Its a bottomless feeling. Now all of your friends and families words are ringing in your head.
But just like a boxing match.. you gotta take a hit to get a hit. Win some, lose some, shake hands and get back to normal life. Water under the bridge.
Mind you:
•No guaranteed direct deposit every 2 weeks.
•No more medical/dental insurance.
•401K retirement is no longer being matched.

11 trades is nothing. You only require ~5.5 trades at 2:1RRR to make it back OR 3.5 trades at 3:1RRR. It's nothing especially in your research because you can easily just scroll a little more and see, "Oh that's just a drawdown. No big deal". How will you react in real time? Will you buckle or choke? But the thing is, I was skipping trades out of fear and JUST so happened to be picking all of the unsuccessful ones. (Decision Fatigue)
Think about those 2 weeks of being in a drawdown. Half of the month. You're not just stagnant, your account is bleeding slowly but surely. Next time you're looking at your spreadsheet/backtest/predictive model/research.. try to put yourself in those days of drawdown. It's not just 11 boxes of red with "-1R" or "Loss" in them. The screenshot above on Imgur is just a recent example.
Think about your daily routine, going to the gym, hanging with friends, grocery shopping, cooking, going to bed, waking up, doing a routine, then losing again.. and again.. and again. Try to think of life during those 300+ hours (Weekends too) of, "I haven't made money. I've lost money. And I still have bills. After paying them, I'll be closer to my set Risk of Ruin".
Here's a lesson you won't learn before going fulltime but I'll do my best to emphasize it here:
Pick a strategy. And stick with it. It can literally be anything. Don't spread yourself thin watching 20+ tickers and be a jack of all patterns/tickers. Be a master of 1 pattern and master of 1 circumstance. There's this real thing called "Decision Fatigue" which explains exactly why what happened.. happened. The article explains that the 2 outcomes of this mental strain known as "Decision Fatigue" is:
  1. Risky Decision-Making
  2. Decision Avoidance
Sound familiar? Does it kind of make sense now? As a new trader you have YouTube, Facebook, StockTwits, Twitter, "gurus", books recommended on Amazon, all throwing their ideas/strategies around, the market has opportunities littered all over.. Decision Fatigue is inevitable for the unprepared. Decision Fatigue happens in every profession. If you mess up at your 9-5, its just a blunder, your paycheck will remain the same. Just a slap on the wrist and move on. With trading, you make a mistake.. it's less food on your table, lights don't stay on, and/or water isn't running. That pressure adds up. No wonder so many fail...
The signs of Decision Fatigue:
•Procrastination.
•Impulsivity.
•Avoidance.
•Indecision.
When you find what clicks with you AND its either statistically or performance proven, have the courage to risk a healthy sum of your capital into it. There are strategies/patterns/styles of trading littered all over the internet:
Very broad example:
"IF circumstance happens THEN "Execution". Stoploss is XYZ. Target is XYZ. BECAUSE over a series of Y trades, I will make $X,XXX.xx".

ProTip #6 : Strategies are all over the internet. It's your account/money, backtest it. People share their strategies here all the time and although I don't agree with them because I know what works for me, it's something to chew off of for you newer traders. YouTube is a harbor with people who give just enough info to figure their style out. You will lose trades. Sit for some screen-time and pay homage to the edge that you discover. All in due time.

Insert key metrics and find correlations. This is how you create checks and balances to create/formulate a black and white trading plan. When I first started doing this, my spreadsheet(s) had so many columns it was annoying and would kill my desire to continue working. You'll find things that are imperative and some that are unimportant. For a lack of more colorful terms: "Throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" Trim the fat. Rinse and repeat.

Here's some things I used to remind myself of and perhaps it'll ring some bells for you:

Surrender your capital to your edge. If you truly accept the risk and trust your proven edge, losses don't feel like anything nor do profits. Although we're not here to put on losing trades and yes it does feel nice to profit. I still from time to time will excited when I hit target after a series of multiple profiting trades depending on my mood.
If you're nervous or your heart starts beating quicker when you hear the sound effect of a trade getting entered/filled. Be honest with yourself and ask yourself if you're truly accepting the risk.
Things you can't take to the bank:
  1. RRR.
  2. Win-Rate
  3. Number of trades.
  4. "This one great trade that I hit target in less than 30 seconds and I got filled better than expected"
All of these are integral metrics. But you're trading to make money. It's up or down, green or red, profit or loss, TRUE or FALSE. So with that said, find what works flawlessly and is easy to follow. Checks and Balances. Then allocate a good sum of risk into it. I read it here all the time, "Don't risk too much" and that's great and true for new traders. But don't sell yourself short. Push yourself over the edge and admit that you know your stuff. Think of Trader A and Trader B. If you've put the time in.. don't sell yourself short. You've built enough courage to learn a business so many fail at. This business has such a negative connotation. But remember that not everybody can handle meritocracies and that's exactly what the market is. Don't try to be the best, just work harder than everyone else and the output of your input will be relative.

ProTip #7: YouTube trading ads from gurus... they're subconsciously making you think you're a novice trader. It's in their marketing. They study marketing psychology. The EASIEST things to sell:
  1. Health
  2. Wealth
  3. Happiness
People that are desperate for those things are the most vulnerable and these "Traders" marketers are fantastic at portraying all 3 of those things at once.

ProTip #8 (Broken record alert) : Write a business plan. Your strategy shouldn't take longer than 4 sentences to explain to another trader. When you have a plan that's proven through a statistic and WAIT for it to happen, you feel 100X better taking the trade. You don't even care too much when it results in a loss. Because that was your plan, you accept it much better, and you know it was just an expense for a winning trade.

Want my strategy? "I scan for stocks with a market cap of over 250M, 10k shares premarket, gapping to support or resistance, priced over $10, and I look for a pattern biased to the direction of the overnight gap. It isn't rocket science. Check my Twitter, look at the dates I posted, and you'll notice the gist. Yes this is an edge but not the entire edge. How fast can you sift through 15 time frames? How long does it take you to fill out your order ticket? Your Fibonacci time extensions with 5 EMA's and Bollinger Bands aren't helping you. They're lagging. If they work for you, great. In my experience, they hindered my visibility.

Pro Tip #9: Yes statistics are highly applicable to trading. Patterns do work. All patterns do is tell you WHEN to enteexit, and how many shares. Humans will never think differently of money. Be the frontrunner of the market's emotions. Nobody remembers the indecisive leader. Risk taking is a commonality amongst leaders. Trading requires courage and it's O.K. to show a bit of confidence as long as you also have the humility to admit when you're in a bad trade. (Notice how I didn't put, "wrong". You're only "wrong" when you deviate from a proven strategy.)

ProTip #10: Risk management is 24/7. I've never heard anyone mention this but think about it a little bit. Having financial obligations can become stressful regardless of how you earn your income but its far more stressful while running a business. Not just any business, but a business where you can go to work on your A-game, do every single last thing right, trade without emotion etc... and still walk away with less money than what you came to work with. Meanwhile somebody who JUST started trading made a 4 figure profit not knowing what the heck the difference between ETB, HTB, or NTB. Think of it like this, a JV high school baseball player can hit a homerun off of an MLB pitcher once.. but how will he fare at the end of the season? Traders don't predict stock prices, traders predict the outcome over hundreds of trades. People chat me asking what TO do rather than what NOT to do. You don't learn labor intensive jobs or how to fly a plane by what to do.. you learn what NOT to do to stay alive.

That's all I have. Once you have a trading plan underway and you're executing it, you don't have much time when your hobbies are cheap but I still do respond to chats/messages. I do get asked from a previous post when I'll build a website and to answer that: I'm learning how to build a site on rainy days. Can't put a definitive date on it. I will say that its coming, if you don't give up on this business in the next year or so, you'll see it. What I plan on putting on there:
  1. RiskReward Calculators
  2. Position size Calculators
  3. EV Calculator
  4. Dictionary with examples
I just don't want some generic WordPress site. I want my website to be stellar and a great resource for aspiring traders. Something I didn't have learning this business. I want it to be something I'd consider a staple in a trader's resources. Perhaps one day it will be referenced on this sub frequently.
FAQ:
  1. "How do you prepare for a trading day?" I get behind the computer about 20 minutes before the bell. Reason being: "If you study long. You'll study wrong". If the chart isn't grabbing my attention and gets me excited, then I flick to the next ticker. I don't even know the companies I trade half the time nor do I care about a news report some journalist wrote. Also there is no magic news outlet that lets you know about "Major events that affect stock prices". If there was, I wouldn't be here because we're all subscribed to the same edge nor would I be trading my style.
  2. "What would you go back to tell yourself?" Get more data. Save a little more, your hairline and sleep schedule will thank you. Take only perfect trades and don't feel forced to trade. There will be days you don't touch an order ticket. And days where you are busy and have tunnel vision. Next thing you know its time to shut it down for the day.
  3. "Books?" - I try to humble myself when answering this but off the cuff, they're all mediocre. Andrew Aziz's was ok, definitely get it, it's only a few bucks on Kindle. Just don't expect it to give you strategies BUT it will give you ideas. If you're brand new, it is good as it will teach you the common vernacular of a day trader. Mark Douglas was interesting but his YouTube seminar recordings are much better. No book, Facebook group, YouTube channel is going to be the end all be all perfect strategy. Expect losses. Don't be a one hitter quitter after suffering a few tiny losses/paper cuts. Stick to it. Most books will help you familiarize yourself with the common vocabulary amongst traders and will hint ideas. It's your job to formulate the strategy and template for research.
  4. "What is your background?" I was a logistics planner for a major oilfield services company. Later I then became a data/buyer analyst so yes, data analytics/research was a 2nd language for me entering trading. I did have that upper hand and did shave off months if not years for me.
  5. "What is a normal day for you?" I'm always done trading after 10:30AM Central. I will hold onto a trade until right before the bell if it hasn't hit either target or StopLoss by the time I leave the house but it is absolutely closed in entirety by 2:55PM Central. After I trade, I enjoy the day. No I'm not riding around in my Lambos posting IG/Snapchat (I have neither) stories of my profits with my private jet waiting on a runway trying to sell an $7 eBook or a $100 membership (HINT HINT). I grill/cook, read, workout, ride my motorcycle, attack my other sources of income (small businesses I'm building), hit the driving range, shoot guns, etc. I live in Texas. Life is cheap and fun here.
  6. "How did you discover your strategy?" I bought TradeIdeas premium, went through all of their computerized backtesting patterns, tested them. Then did what I mentioned earlier... Tried to find correlations in metrics. It distilled the trades to a strict criteria and here I am. I post on average 4-5 tickers on my watchlist. 7 max. I do not like spreading my attention thin across multiple tickers. I do not recommend buying TradeIdeas, it does have lots of bugs.
  7. "What did you do/How did you get started?" Was a data analyst, was good at research and applied it to trading. My incentive was, "I could have made more money trading rather than sitting in 2+ hours of roundtrip traffic and 9 hours in an office. The data is there. Everybody sees the same charts all over the world. There are ways to make this possible"
  8. "What is your % return?" (Not a fun question since a trading account is not an index or investment account. Intraday traders do not measure performance in %) I trade to make money AND pay myself, so my equity curve will look like a small loss or small gain after I pay myself. % return? I measure my account's performance in Sharpe Ratio and Risk Units. My Sharpe Ratio is ~1.85. While I yield roughly .8 - 1 R per trading day. Some weeks I make 10R. Some weeks I lose 2R. Yeah one week I might make $2,500. But the next week I might lose $300. The following week my strategy will yield $0 and the last week I might make $1,000. Some weeks suck. Some weeks are great. But overall. Just shy of 1R per trading day. Some days I'm super busy taking trade after trade. Some days I'll shut it down after 5 minutes without even filling out an order ticket. Some days I won't even see the open because there is no edge for me.. Keywords... "For me".
  9. "Is enough to start trading?" Depends on where you live. Are you restricted to PDT? If not then how much are you obligated to expenses? I live in Texas. Things are cheap here. If you live in NYC or The Bay Area your expenses will be astronomical compared to mine. A $30,000 account is totally doable for a single Texan with low monthly expenses. Now if you're in California or New York? I'm sure you'll fall below 25k if you have 1 bad month. Also depends on if you have other sources of income or a full/part time job. I encourage every trader and aspiring trader to have multiple sources of income, don't rely solely on trading. Not just for the sake of mitigating pressure but also for sanity. If you have a family to provide for, I don't know what that's like, you never know when Little Johnny is going to randomly pick up Trombone lessons for a school program/play while little Suzie needs transmission work in her car because a simple solenoid went out. $1,700 later.
  10. "Why do you need so many monitors?" I use 3 for trading. The 4th is for music. The other 2 are useless while trading. That's for trading though. When I made the decision to go full time, I knew I was about to go off the chain with research. And sifting between spreadsheets, a platform to see multiple timeframes for a pattern to backtest. My attention span is short, I'll lose my train of thought before I open the other tab to input data. But the main reason was for research. It's such a time saver and is a headache repellant when doing research while everything is laid out in front of you. Now that I have a system. I'll most likely be treating myself to 2 ultrawides for Christmas.
As always, thank you to everybody who takes time out to message me and letting me know some people read these and show appreciation. I would say, "Good luck" but there is no luck in trading. Just statistics. Remember that!
In conclusion: Yes. Full time trading is possible, depending where you live/monthly expenses and obligations. You're more likely to become a profitable trader than a professional athlete. There is a level of uncertainty each day, perhaps each week, doubtful each month, and definitely not each year. If I ever want a raise, I just consult my business plan and financials, then decide if I can handle it mentally. If you have medical issues, get a part time job for the benefits. If you're healthy, just be careful.

All the best!

Day 1

First I just wanted to say how thankful I am for a forum like this. So many people need a safe place to talk ( myself included ) and I just wanted to say I’m glad to be apart of this. I haven’t been gambling for long, maybe a year or two, however, in that time I’ve manage to spend over 13-15K. It’s even reached the point where it was affecting my marriage and my time with my kid. There’s been low points in my life but nothing that has made me feel more low than losing my hard earned money on gambling. It’s funny because I would tell other gamblers not to chase losses and to money manage, yet as soon as I lost a 200$ bet I was laying another 200 on BJ, just to chase and chase. Today is day 1. I’ve added up my most recent losses ( totaling almost 2,000$). I’ve left around 2,000$ in my bank account but still need to pay off CCs from previous gambling’s. All I can say is, fuck gambling, fuck casinos, and fuck feeling like shit. Today was great watching football and not placing a wager. So here is to day 1 and new beginnings. Thanks for reading and the support.

Rockbottom

Hello,
Just found this forum and thought I would share my story. Was married for 25 yrs, pretty normal marriage. 2 amazing sons and dog a house a job. When sons finished high school we seperated. I left the marriage with 400g fast forward 3 yrs...yes 3 yrs and I'm broke!!! Never had any desire to gamble prior to my seperation. Went to the casino to watch Howie Mandel show and lost 190 bucks. Couldnt stop thinking about the loss so I went the following wk with my gf and won 1500 and that was the beginning of the end. I not only lost all my money but am about 50g in debt living with my sister and her fam. I'm on day 1 again for the thousandh time. I'm depressed, drink to numb the pain. I NEVER saw this coming. I now struggle with thoughts of suicide as I most days cant bare to face another day of loss and disappointment. My sons are the only reason I'm here still. I'm not even able to give them a home. I feel like an embarrassment to them. Btw I'm a 48 yo fem with no prior addictions, unless u consider yoga and exercise one.
If anyone took the time to read this thru plz plz stop b4 ur situation is like mine.
Best of luck to everyone...the struggle is real!!!

Day 1. For real this time.

I've made many posts before on this forum really just complaining about my losses and talking about how damaging this addiction is and how stupid and worthless it makes me feel as a person. I feel like Ive actually ruined my life to a point where my quality of life will never actually recover to what it could have been. This is difficult to take and for some time I have hidden behind drinking and gambling in order to shield me from this realisation. If I just had one huge win everything would be okay again. This is simply lying to myself.
I believe in the past I haven't fully accepted what a day one means. Its not I'm going to try not to gamble again. It means I am NEVER going to make another bet. I am NEVER going to go to the pub with the intention to have a beer and play the pokies. I am never going to a casino again.
This sucks as a realisation because these are my go to time filling activities. I realise that without this my life will be very boring. I guess I need to accept this and find other activities. Maybe even positive ones that will fill my time.
I really hope this is what makes the difference. So now I say it. This is my real day 1. Now I just need to take this one day at a time.

Day 1... I am ready to change my life

I have posted on this forum previously. I have had an addiction to gambling my entire life it feels like but it only became a problem once I discovered online cryto casinos because it isn't legal in my state to gamble and I don't fancy lottery scratch offs because I always lose with those. I have gambled away about 6k between august to now and I could have payed off some of my debt with that... and that it what fuels my addiction and makes me want to go back. I told my gf about my gambling addiction and how much I spend on it multiple times and she didn't see any issue with it... until new year's eve two nights ago. I loaded about 100 bucks into the website for us to gamble with. Well, I got drunk while we were out and lost that in about 5 mins and continued to load hundreds more to try and recoup my loss. She saw the disease and how depressed it made me. The desperation and despair of it ruined the whole night. I went to bed at a 400 loss and I am DONE trying to chase these losses. I saw the hole is deep enough and I am walking away. I unsubscribed from the gambling YouTube channels I watched, downloaded a gambling support app, and told her that I am NOT allowed to gamble ever again and for her to stop me at all costs from now on. I am also quitting smoking and drinking too. Gambling has done one thing for me though. It has kind of made it easier to quit my other addictions to smoking and alcohol as gambling took up all of my mental space, time and money. But I am quitting all 3 today and paying back the 23k debt I owe by the end of this year. It is my goal and I am sticking to it. If anyone wants to shoot me a message feel free...

Reaching a last resort, help me get into pirating

TLDR: I tried almost everything in this bloody game, and PvP sounds like the only fun thing to left to do. I have a char with skilled missiles, frigates and cruisers. And I would like to get into pirating, details at the bottom.
For those interest in the long story, this is how my eve echoes love hate relationship begin:

The story

I started playing the first day echoes was released. I literally couldn't wait. I tried playing EO several times, but was always overwhelmed, and felt incredibly behind everyone else. Yet, the notion of this gameplay and mechanics sounded really awesome. So I started playing!
Right from the beginning, I started with industry. I figured out that it would be needed early and I could make some money doing it. I also liked the idea of creating a supply chain, researching my own blueprints, making sure I'm doing profit. Basically running a company in a virtual world.
It went quite well, I created a corp for other indys to join. I advertised it on all the possible channels, different forums, in game chat. There is plenty of opportunities in game, where something is selling incredibly well and is overlooked, and I wanted to share these tips with others. But when somebody joined, they immediately left (they were in for the 500k bonus), or they stopped playing outright. I payed of the 200 mills and I'm basically solo now. But I don't mind ...
But then I noticed, that prices were plummeting. At first I didn't mind that much, because I was making profit. But then my mining spots were being overrun by bots. Imagine 9 ships warping at the same time to the same belt, spreading out and basically rowing everything down. I changed the system but the same thing started happening again.
It sounded like a good opportunity to try PvE content. I had quite a bit of Plex, so I setup an alt account, purchased all the skill boosters. And started ratting. But this felt like an incredible waste of time. It wasn't even fun. Most of the anomalies are low level, you get peanuts, and when you do find some scout or inquisitor anomaly. There is 5 other people doing it. And usually someone in a slasher that is there just to steal the loot. So I stopped doing that ....
Then I wanted to start doing story missions. And you know what? Fuck this shit. Calling these missions story missions, is an insult to every story ever created. And the gambling mechanic (you roll your dice and maybe you are lucky to get the mission you want?) is the stupidest mechanic ever created for a PvE content. Really, fuck this. Afters week of trying to finish at least some story missions, I just gave up, if I wanted to play slot machines I would go into a casino.
Then, I lost 140 hours worth of SP and I almost threw my phone out of the window.
If NetEase would have offices around I would buy the biggest pile of crap from the local farmers, and put it right in front of their doors, or maybe cover the whole parking lot.
Anyways, since I had a character decent enough for some PvE content, I wanted try PvPing. And so I thought well, maybe I could kill all the bots? And do my part? o7. And so I did, I have a Breacher Assault with 250 kills under its belt. But there is no bloody point. First, there is no challenge, you warp in, they do nothing, you put them down, they warp to the station, reequip the whole set, and they are back in business. And they will be doing that 24/7. SO I stopped doing that as well...
But, it sparked my interest in PvPing. And this is the last thing I would like to try. But I don't want to join a huge corp, that requires discords and stuff. I have a small kid and I need to be quiet when she is sleeping. So I would like to try to do that solo.

The core of the post

So ....
- I have 5/5/0 in small missiles and 5/4 in medium. Frigs are 5/5/0 and cruisers 5/4/0. is there some cheap-ish setup that I can fly often and die often?
- Is it even viable to pirate solo? Most of the serious miners just warp off, even with story warp scrambles. So I was thinking of ganking pilots in anomalies, but I don't know if it is feasible in my breacher assault.
- Do you guys have any tips for a solo pirate? Or is it better to just play something else?

Something to think about

If some of you ever found Eve Online overwhelming, and then you stopped. But then you tried Eve Echoes, liked it at first, but it become underwhelming quite fast, give Eve online another try. It feels really great. It feels like Eve Echoes is a nice tutorial and preparation for Eve Online.

On the subject of "Cut content" and content to come. + Some DLC /Expansion

On the subject of

In terms of some of the things I see on this sub try to take a (GIGANTIC) step back and think before you toss blind hate.

And in serious cases, like the recent events in Washington, they aim to tell stories of .
Also remember they have said several times the game is subject to change, And this was said multiple times.

No reason to have this present, unless there is a plan for it in the future.

whatever you want this one's due i'm into this game for at least a thousand bucks i get this one two oh the better match yeah no no but this one yesterday all right here we go twenty dollars to spend fifty four hundred dollar major hundred and three thousand dollar grand this is slower than like that first [Music] so the floor is 500 on this game unless we decide to play a second round on it so thousand dollar ticket in the floor come on what whoa no oh i thought you had it oh wow how did you screw that up very easily oh i thought i had it thousands left what happened to that 20 orb what happened to that 20 dollar orb tracy if jose twerks upside down like naomi there will be mega booms wow you've been requesting the twerk upside down [Music] diane mccall says whatever rajo says about you after i fell for the malaria hoax [Laughter] so diane mccall says she doesn't believe anything you say about me after she fell for the malaria hoax when you told everybody i had malaria b.o.d uh brandon true b.o.d ah what what grand did you hit the other day when the raja was live it's probably the same as me having malaria whatever that's worth [Music] it's no minor finally [Music] the good news is i don't have malaria currently but the question is are you going to fall asleep 2 000. i knew this game was due ah yeah come on keeping it alive [Music] now i pumped well over a thousand bucks in this game last night [Music] plus in the group paul we didn't do too well either [Music] [Applause] thousand right [Music] oh here it comes 103 000 live let me at least see it i did not see it i playing well i can pay off my markers it'll be nice [Music] that's something is that tick-tock tick-tock well i only have one phone unlike some people wow you guys both have one phone wait we got so many girls and tracy d if you don't mind sending me a photos later on of all the jackpots thank you all right so the floor is gonna be three thousand bucks one more moon there's still good line hit john johnson boom boom boom in bod's room that's right [Music] yeah this machine was definitely due after i mean carrie watched me struggle on this game last night i mean struggle one more i knew this game had to do a comeback hi there how you doing today good how are you i'm doing well you can't do recording what did this gentleman tell you i'm spitting fake news again i'm gonna have to call security on you that wouldn't be the first time yeah they called him last time when he had those prostitutes you grabbed his hands on his feet caesar's palace was not a good day remember caesar's palace and that lady i was tracy says i'm waiting jose you got this bee all right cash it out so this yeah so yeah this was a new this was a fresh ticket jimmy beauty on ajita keep it up i got your hoodie in my room during his live play i'll get it for you all right cash cove 25 a spin so the floor is just under 2 500. purple and gold saw it's nice wind keep it up i'm going to purple gold and i got jimmy d there you go all right all right so the floor is like 2 400 and change what doesn't want my ticket i did this yesterday too gaming machine unable to redeem at this time that was weird and it took it cash go 25 to spend cash cove just under 2 400 sorry just under 2 500. come on make up make up for you so 24 in change [Music] 100 dollars get it oh but thank you to all the mods help out thank you to kerry all aboard or luxury line tiffany j beauty great live stream can you play some cats all right we'll do cats after this [Music] no thank you nope i'm doing well not drinking anything so i'm gonna hold off as long as we keep winning i will not have a sip of water the entire livestream i am very superstitious [Music] what did he get nice jose is on ajita as tracy d would say this ticket will be put in the bank after this machine is over that's a great observation [Music] [Music] doesn't want me to quit this game i guess no okay there you go all right couple more spins not gonna go below 2400 come on come on all right final spin on this game cash an hour all right all right so that i think it's done all right we're gonna put another thousand dollar ticket in so once again the floor is gonna be um 500 bucks i didn't have to didn't have time to break down the tickets cats here it is somebody wanted cats to send a super chat and i haven't done cats in a while so [Music] 15 to spin [Music] yes that's it i thought it looked it looked a lot better in my mind sometimes the lower bets work better that's a pay line on 15. oh fine don't have to convince me it looks like if i'm a game manufacturer i'm making 15 lines that's not one of mine [Music] yeah of all the games being different heights different angles it's not always the easiest sometimes to uh that's it fifteen all right 30 that's fine 30 bucks on cats ah 200 nice [Music] come on bank the bonus that's good huh 400. nice [Music] that's right johnny milwaukee loves all the games that have cats in it kitty glitter miss kitty [Music] bonus [Music] [Music] what do you think should i play 45 a spin on catch or keep it here at 30. 500 is the floor we're going for that bonus oh yeah 250. i'll tell you what we'll do actually choose the max you can only play 30 bucks so by default oh bonus nope no nope gina anyway can you play black widow uh maybe you'll do some black widow i'll tell you what since we're doing well in the game we'll i don't want to lose any money on this game so we'll set the floor in a thousand bucks so we guarantee we don't lose any money playing cats [Music] i hate to do well in the machine and go broke trying to hit the bonus so [Music] come on okay 200 just for that [Music] and if we break the two 2000 mark maybe he'll set a floor above that come on full screen say meow i likey [Music] so if the raja ever tells you something about me 95 of the time it's not true he said you were an awesome individual b.o.d yep see told you now he knows better than joke about my dogs so oh yeah that's like the one thing he knows so if he says something about my dogs that may be true but besides that i never had malaria [Music] what's not a pay line but this jagged thing is that's bs hey ben hello [Music] don't get called on me kitty cats [Music] all right um is black widow on here all right this game's getting cold i'm going to use this extra 186 dollars for black widow so the forum black widow's still going to be 500. i so whatever that's worth executive vod decision [Music] forty dollars to spend on black widow [Music] the floor is at 500 on the game he's taking some of that extra money [Music] all right a black widow floor is five hundred dollars oh there's yep i that's a lot of people say i look like the purple guy in black widow they're the pink guy does that look like b.o.d what do you guys think i think it is they modeled it after me maybe that's right the raja this is his favorite game because he gets to see me all the time [Music] wow cheryl clark blackwidow be nice to b.o.d thank you we don't think we had a single playback of anything on black widow yet [Music] not a single does black widow hate b.o.d looks like ben affleck oh there we go on the last spin it pays 160 says don't quit on me [Music] ah mark wahlberg all right final spin and we're putting this ticket in the bank for cats and black widow so cats and black widow is done now i did play some um dancing drums earlier today and i got killed 2 000 down on dancing drums so based on that it's dancing drums revenge [Music] time [Music] yeah i saw my afternoon live play we did play some dancing drums so what do i got left 500 500 500 000 so 6500 in tickets i have 2500 left let's just make it easy to put a 500 ticket here so once again guys i had to get some thousand dollar tickets i couldn't get the 500 so that's why we used some tickets twice 1760 a bet and we're going for three if we get it we're going for three the last three games we haven't done anything so we're due for another bonus here jimbo come on drums let's see a bonus i agree timbo so the mini's at 178 miners 626 that seems awfully high you son of a yeah majors at 9 000 yeah we're going for three because that's what i said all right here we go all right big money there we go that's it [Music] yes oh one more dragon that helped 120 yeah 360. [Music] all right 660 dollar bonus [Music] all right we're gonna play some more uh like 750 floor on this game we need some backup spins let's get another bonus [Music] you know screw it we'll do the mystery if we get it again that sounds fine with me mystery if we get another bonus i just hit five drums [Music] all right final spin unless we hit something um [Music] all right whoops says uh [Music] top dollar let's do it [Music] a lot of people like the double top dollar [Music] yeah 210 dollars to spend sorry 10 dollars a credit 20 [Music] we've been doing better on the lower d knobs right now so [Music] she says always double she's an expert so yeah 10's on there i'm putting a thousand dollar ticket in so the floor will be 500. ★ Quick Review of the Tanks in the Premium Footlockers + Best "Strategy" to use ★

So it seems that WG decided that a fun gamemode can't go without monetization, and they've added "Footlockers" (Read: Lootboxes) for purchase. It is extremely important to note:
You are NOT guaranteed to get your money's worth - In fact, most boxes you open are going to be a BAD VALUE.
These are NOT like the Christmas boxes where there was at minimum equal value in the box as what you paid for it. The Halloween "Footlockers" rely soley on the CHANCE of you getting a Premium tank. WarGaming has not released numbers for the chances to get a Premium tank, but based on all of the unboxing videos / posts I've seen, the chance seems to be around 1 in 25 (4%). In theory, that doesn't seem too bad, with each box also having the ability to be rerolled. However, the actual value of the contents inside is another story.
Let's start with the best "strategy" to get the absolute most out of the boxes.
(Want to read this guide with better formatting? I post all of my content to the NA Forums. This one is hyperlined here)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strategy:

To maximize your chance of getting the Premium tanks without ruining the potential value you'd get from them, in theory you should reroll every box that doesn't have a Premium tank once, and once only.
However, since not all of the Premiums are very good, plus there's no guarantee you'll get a Premium tank at all, you should most likely:
Keep:
**Reroll:**
Do not reroll a box more than once. Each one contains 100 Gold, which is enough to reroll it once without losing more Gold than you "earned". This will prevent you from losing more money than you already would if you don't get Premiums, and will maximize the value you get if you do get Premiums from the boxes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mini-Reviews of all of the Premium Tanks available:

We're going to quickly do a rundown of each of the Premium tanks offered, providing a 0-10 rating and a very quick description of the most notable features of the tank.
T77 Heavy: 7.5/10 [Very Good]
The T77 Heavy is in many ways like a Tier 8 version of the T57 Heavy, except it doesn't have any of the DPM. The T77's gun is unreliable with an extremely long reload. However, it has the ability to unload 1,080 damage within 4 seconds of the first shell, which is absolutely devastating at Tier 8.
The rest of the tank is mediocre all around, with unreliable armor, somewhat poor view range, and somewhat sluggish mobility. However, the mobility is enough to get it in and out of important positions, and allows the gun to work wonders. It's kind of like the Bourrasque in that regard - A very unreliable gun on a mostly underwhelming platform, that works surprisingly well because of the monstrous damage potential. Of course, this tank plays entirely differently in comparison to the Bourrasque, but it's actually a good tank to get from the boxes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M4A1 Revalorise: 5/10 [Average]
The tank has definitely suffered hard from powercreep, but its still a reasonably okay tank. The gun is punchy and relatively reliable, and the tank has gun depression to make it work. Everything else about the tank is forgettable, and the armor resembles French bread more than French armor.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMX CDA 105: 7/10 [Very Good]
Most people brush the AMX CDA off, but the gun that it has on such a mobile and stealthy platform makes it feel like a very playable version of the Strv S1.
Sure, the Strv S1's gun is even better with even more gun depression, but the Siege Mode mechanic makes it very inflexible and difficult to play on matchups where you can't just sit back and snipe.
The AMX CDA 105 on the other hand, is able to keep contributing to the battle, relocating and even being able to get up close and personal if it needs to.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STG: 5/10 [Average]
The STG is kind of like the M4A1 Revalorise - A forgettable tank and platform, with a rather solid gun. The STG sacrifices some of the mobility of the M4 to gain armor. It sacrifices the gun depression to get a stealthy low profile. Its shell velocity is traded off for better accuracy.
It's just as average as the M4 Rev is, but offers a different playstyle for the same alpha gun, in case the M4 Rev wasn't quite your cup of tea.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ELC Even 90: 4/10 [Poor]
If I were to rate this tank objectively, especially with the new equipment that's in the game, the ELC Even 90 offers a level of scouting potential that no other light tank at Tier 8 offers. Such a small, low profile tank, especially with the new equipment, is able to spot tanks from positions that nothing else could, while also having a gun that can hit surprisingly hard if you can get the entire magazine off.
That being said, the gun is... Abysmal. It's one of the worst guns on any Tier 8 tank in the game, and ELC Even 90 players consistently average less damage in the tank, than they would in a Tier 6 tank. The gun is truly horrific, and the tank only works because of the scouting potential, combined with small size with a 660 damage potential magazine.
A good player can make the tank work reasonably well, but as I've said in many previous ELC Even 90 reviews [hyperlinked here], the tank just doesn't have the carry potential that other Tier 8 light tanks do. You're rolling the dice each time you play it whether or not you'll get a map where the tank can work, whether you'll find good light / medium tank players on the enemy team that can counter you, and whether or not your gun will decide to hit a tank 20 meters in front of you.
You might love the tank - A lot of people do... But it's kind of like the Tog II in that regard - It's a giant rolling meme... Or I guess in this case, a tiny go-cart meme. It's not actually good... But it can be fun if you get the right scenario.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strv S1: 6/10 [Good]
The Strv S1 as I mentioned earlier, is a less flexible version of the AMX CDA 105, that has a better gun, better camo and better gun depression. That being said, because of the Siege Mode mechanic, in most circumstances the AMX CDA 105 will have more carry potential, and be a far more enjoyable tank to play - On top of making more credits.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FV4202: 3/10 [Very Bad]
The FV4202 never was a particularly good tank, even when it was a Tier 10 medium, but as a Tier 8 Premium tank in 2020, it is particularly bad. The armor is pretty decent, but the mobility is on the sluggish side, and the gun is just a joke and a half. 1700 DPM for a tank with 230 alpha, and a shockingly unreliable gun (despite what the paper stats would make you believe), is not a good combination. Combine that with poor gun handling on the move, and you're not in for a pleasant experience.
The hull armor is pretty troll, but the turret is pretty easily penetrated by anything with 220mm of pen or more. Using your gun depression helps to some extent, but because the turret is so large, and has so many flat zones, even when you're completely hull-down using all 10 degrees of gun depression, the armor still doesn't hold up as well as you'd hope, and the gun will just disappoint you over and over again.
It is a bad tank, and one of the worst ones in this list.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T-54 first prototype: 5.5/10 [Average]
The T-54 Prototype is sadly just a worse version of the T-44-100. Everything about the T-54 Prototype is significantly worse with the only exception being the armor, but even the armor is hardly much to write home about.
The turret is still the weakest part of the tank, and having the same shape and size as the T-44-100 turret, with similar armor effectiveness, it defeats the purpose of the T-54 Prototype even moreso.
The only well-armored part of the tank is the hull, but even that only works if the enemy can't shoot down on it using gun depression, and if the enemy has less than the average of 220mm of pen at Tier 8.
It's a decent enough tank, but it's just pointless compared to the T-44-100.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hwk 30: 6/10 [Good]
The Hwk 30 isn't particularly great, but it feels in many ways like the RU 251 at Tier 8, which is pretty nice. The gun is solid, the mobility is good and it's reasonably stealthy with great view range.
It just can't compete with the LT-432 or EBR 75, which makes it somewhat pointless to own.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T92: 4/10 [Bad]
How quickly things have changed, huh? When this tank first came out, I would have told you it's a pretty good light tank. Powercreep has hit this tank hard, and the new equipment only makes it even less relevant than it otherwise would be.
The T92 doesn't really benefit from the new equipment nearly as much as some of the other light tanks do, since it's such a one-trick pony by comparison. It has god-Tier levels of gun handling on the move, but sacrifices a whole lot to get it. The acceleration is great, but a limited top speed really holds it back, and it would be a waste of a Turbocharger in some ways if you chose to go that route.
The tank just doesn't have anything to compete with the best Tier 8 medium tanks, which hurt it far more than other Tier 8 light tanks do. You might still have some fun tanks zipping around and snapping shells in, but just pray you don't find a Lansen C, Progetto 46, or Bourrasque on the enemy team... Because otherwise, they'll be the ones having fun snacking on you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IS-6: 4.5/10 [Bad]
2014 called, they want their tank back. While it's true that the IS-6 got a much-needed armor buff that actually makes the armor surprisingly decent for a Tier 8 Heavy (even if we ignore its Pref MM), the gun still is abysmal and holds it back significantly compared to most other Tier 8 heavies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T26E4 SuperPershing: 7/10 [Very Good]
Unlike the IS-6, the Super Pershing's armor buff and gun buff brought it right back to being a rather competitive tank. While you do still need to shoot plentiful of APCR to make the most out of it, the armor holds up really well which allows you to let the gun work.
Unlike the IS-6, the Super Pershing's gun is actually pretty good, with good gun depression, decent enough accuracy and aiming times, and reasonable enough gun handling. Combine that with really good APCR pen, and you can not only play like a heavy tank, but you can outplay heavy tanks too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kanonenjagdpanzer 105: 5/10 [Average]
We can see where this is going... Of the 3 105mm Tank Destroyers on this list, the Kanonen is at the bottom of the barrel. The Kanonen may not have to deal with Siege Mode like the Strv S1 does, but it's in many ways worse than the AMX CDA 105 - Which defeats the purpose of playing such a tank. The AMX CDA 105 is a more flexible Strv S1, with many good characteristics to still allow the gun to perform really well.
The Kanonen 105 is very vulernable though with its complete lack of armor and poor gun handling on the move. This makes it much less flexible than the AMX CDA 105, and means it doesn't have the redeeming characteristics it needs to be a viable alternative to the Strv S1. Not to mention, the hp/ton is much worse on the Kanonen, which means it isn't as fast as you might hope, relying mostly on its top speed and traverse speed to get around, not so much its acceleration.
It's definitely not as bad as the Kanonen 90... But that's not saying much, considering just how bad that tank actually was.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vk 168.01 (P): 4/10 [Bad]
Apparently we're still calling unskinned tanks a new Premium tank. I thought this was 2020, not 2016 / 2017? Anyway, the VK 168.01 P is an armored tank with a hard hitting gun, that's as slow as a brick house floating through a river of molasses. It's not going anywhere anytime soon, and if you do manage to make it to the battle, your team has probably already lost.
It's just a worse version of the VK 100.01 P, except they're charging you money for it. No thanks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lowe: 8.5/10 [Great]
While I no longer rate the Lowe 10/10 as I used to, it is still a really good tank that still manages to hold up really well in the current meta. The gun is punchy and reliable, the gun depression works really well with very solid turret armor, and the hull is still fairly usable so long as you can hide your lower plate.
The Lowe is a great credit grinder, with decent carry potential. It's not flashy, and it's not the most fun tank, but it works and it works well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WZ-120-1G FT: 9/10 [Amazing]
This is one of the few tanks in the Chinese line that actually stands out as being a really good tank. The DPM is insanely good, the armor is surprisingly solid, the tank is really stealthy and low profile, it's pretty quick with an extremely fast traverse speed, and the tank even has view range to go along with it! Not to mention, when you let the gun aim, its accuracy is also pretty decent.
This tank has just about everything you'd want, except for a turret and gun depression, but its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, and is still one of the best Tier 8 Premium tanks in the game - Especially now with the new equipment providing an Improved Rotation Mechanism. The Improved Rotation Mechanism helps tanks like this a lot, since the gun handling becomes better, aim time becomes better (with the smaller aiming circle) and an already quick-turning tank turns even faster now. It is truly an amazing piece of equipment for a truly amazing tank.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And there we go, there was a quick rundown of all of the Tier 8 Premium tanks offered in the Footlockers!
Is it worth spending the money? Probably not. It's gambling to the extreme, and unlike the Christmas event, many people will be walking away with next-to-nothing during this event.
The boxes only become worth it if you get one of the Tier 8 Premiums offered, but even then, most of the Premiums just aren't all that good. There are a few shining stars in the mix, but it's mostly a lot of mediocrity.
Unless you have a good amount of disposable income, and you don't own most of the tanks on the list, the boxes simply aren't worth it. And even then, since there's no guarantee of actually getting your money's worth (quite the opposite actually, with most of the boxes being nearly worthless), I would highly advice against buying the boxes.
And while it's true you get 3 keys from the 10 box bundle, that's only 3 battles in the WT auf E110 - It's barely anything worth paying attention to, and doesn't really add any meaningful value to the boxes. These footlockers are completely pointless unless you win a decent Tier 8 Premium tank that you didn't already have, which is a small chance and is entirely casino-style gambling, without any of the fun or experience of being in an actual casino.

Anyone bored wanting to find a good mmorpg on your browser?

I have been in the same situtation as you before, I had a chromebook that couldn't run any other games other than browser games. I really wanted to find a good browser mmorpg and so I went to mmos.com and tried almost every single game. Today I want to share with you my favorite browser game by far, this game IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, it's called TORN and it's basically a crime based game in the modern world and you want to basically get strong and rich.
Ammount of time per day: (It's an mmorpg so obviously not in one sitting) I'd say about 10mins every few hours every day, this game rewards players for being active daily for short duration of time rather than playing a very long time in one sitting, then missing a few days.
Difficulty: Simple to understand, hard to master
Pros:
-Highly active game over 20k players playing at the same time on average, 9 servers, huge staff team for a browser game (like 20 people)
-A perfect game to have in the background: while you're doing homework or even watching youtube, it doesn't require full attention AT ALL (ok maybe a little bit at least).
-Althought it looks like there's not much to do there is SO much you can do in this game: join a faction, do faction wars to hold territories, get a job for cash, start a company for extra cash, gamble at the casino, do crimes to earn easy money, organized crimes with faction mates, start selling stuff at your bazar, racing (cars), traveling to other countries to buy stuff there bring it back to for more money, events every month (sometimes more than one per month) such as Christmas town, dog tags, trick or treat, etc (I could go all day)
-Not a single thing you can't buy with in game money (though some items are extremely limited like I believe there is only a total of 149 gold plated AK which is one of the best weapons in the game) and very to none p2w possibility, if you pay in the beginning it will give you a big headstart skipping the annoying part of the game which is being a beginner.
Cons:
-Requires determination and being able to be active almost everyday, missing a day isn't the end of the world but there is a set ammount of things you can do once/set time per day.
-Energy bar: used for things like training your stats at the gym or attacking another player now this is what turns a lot of players away, but trust me IT IS NOT LIKE ENERGY IN MOBILE GAMES, energy auto generates and there's sooo many ways to replenish your energy such as drugs (yes this game has drugs, if you get addicted there is a rehab), energy drinks, using points for energy refills, hotel coupons, etc...
-Text based: also of the main reasons many players doesn't think is appealing, the graphics are not the best but extremely good in my opinion for a text based game, and NO a text based game doesn't mean you're doing to have to read a wall of text every 5 seconds, it means there is no controlable character and might be a bit confusing a first as games with a controlable character are so popular.
-Grown up community: kids are not welcomed in this game, nor are beggars, this game is full of grown ups so DO NOT talk AT ALL in the global chat and starting new threads in forums. I've seen several players complaining how they lost all their cash at the casino (don't gamble btw) and how rigged this game was and he got hospitalized for a very long time, then he kept complaining and got bounties on his head and is now sentenced to be able to play the game for a very long time. On torn, you are nobody when you start, that's why it's fun to grow and to be one day, somebody.
If this game sounds appealing to you or if you're just bored and want to try it out please use my referal link! (I get a little something if you reach level 10), if you're using my referal link I'd be more than pleased to help you in the game and explaining further how the game works and why I find it so fun (it's hard to explain until you start to get addicted, really). Also I need friends :(.
here is my referal link: https://www.torn.com/2215152 we should automatically be friends so just send me a message and I'll gadly help you (I am still a student and have school even though there's a virus going on so why.... so I won't be responding right away but I'll try my best to! Add me on discord at PROFY#6207 if you're super serious about this game! Thank you if you took the time to read all this, I'm impressed lol.

addiction and bankruptcy

So, Long story short I have/had a terrible gambling addiction which I have addressed. Alot of it was just online forums and really reddit gambling addiction subs that got me on a path to delete and blacklist me from online casinos.
My question is has anyone here filed due to a gambling addiction and could they share their story on how things went? If you don't want to put it here you can PM me. I got myself in such a horrible situation financially by my own doing. I have 2 charge offs about to have a third, 15 missed payments, an overdrawn account, payday loan in collections...not good and really the only way I can get out is bankruptcy.
However I am afraid to file. I am afraid my creditors will object and have my entire case dismissed due to how I ran up credit cards and the method of which how I spent my money. So really im wondering if anyone has ended up in the same situation and what road blocks presented? Any answers would help no matter how fucked I might be.

Free Casino Chips and Honest Online Casinos

An understanding of the relevance of free casino chips must certanly be put in its proper context: would be the offers of the free chips originating from honest online casinos?

The first online casinos opened 10 years back, and now you will find hundreds that are available online. Estimates vary regarding the number of people who gamble online, but recent estimates claim that a figure of around seven million worldwide would not be too much out. Taking that into account, and with a further estimate greater than $12 billion spent 먹튀검증 in online casinos alone (not including physical land-based casinos), offers of free casino chips may understandably be seen as something of a decline in the ocean.

Add to that the question of whether these free chips are now being provided by honest online casinos, and we enter a location worth some study or serious research.

Firstly, let's consider what these free casino chips are well worth to the individual online casino player. Free casino chips are of four main types:

No Deposit Bonus. This really is simply free money. Honest online casinos will offer free casino chips without any strings attached, simply to attract individuals to play at their virtual tables. There may sometimes be minor strings attached. As an example, the casino may ask for credit card details up front. Always read the terms.

Matching Deposit Bonus. This really is where the house will match your deposit. Often this is completed in multiples. As an example, a 200% bonus will mean that should you were to deposit $100 then a casino would add $200 in free casino chips to your account. Very nice! Especially ideal for new players starting out.

Uncashable Bonus. This is actually the so-called'sticky'bonus. This could never be cashed, but its usefulness lies in that fact that it stays in your account and allows you to utilize the bonus account to'leverage'higher wagers. These free casino chips stay latent in your account simply to allow you to do things which you otherwise could not.

Loyalty Bonus. This is often since it sounds. All honest online casinos, and offline ones too, want to keep hold of their good returning customers, and will offer loyalty bonuses, including free casino chips, as a result.

Understand that online casinos are able to afford to achieve this because they simply do not have the overhead that their brick and mortar land-based counterparts have. Equally, there's no excuse for an on line casino NOT to be honest for the same reason. They can offer free casino chips AND be an honest online casino in circumstances where their physical equivalents would get the financial burden impossible.

So how do we go about identifying which would be the honest online casinos and which are not? Well, a lot has changed since the first online casinos put up shop within their offshore locations in 1996. Self-regulation (at best dubious) generated accreditation of bodies like ECOGRA (E-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance). Look out also for proof of good customer care, positive feedback from online casino forum members and decent helpline facilities. The more honest online casinos will offer (will actively boast) 24 hour live chat and live email support in addition to toll-free telephone help. Are there a mailing list you can join to keep in touch with the latest tournaments and special offers? Trust lies in the centre of any subscription process (or people would not subscribe) in order that by itself is a good indicator of an honest online casino.

Transparency of accounting systems is another good indicator of honest online casinos. When testimonials are published make sure that it is from higher than a pair of initials, and make sure they have circumstances or country. Free casino chips may be'virtual'in concept, but they are utilized by real people!

Anyone here struggling with stock market addiction? (mainly high-risk/near gambling investments)

I believe I am not the only person who struggles with this. I've been taking out money to invest in bad securities and risky options. And worse, I've been using and borrowing parents' money to trade highly volatile stocks instead of long term investments. Problem is, I have no self-control and a lack of risk management. So, that qualifies me as a traditional gambling addict, I suppose. I didn't lose my savings or 100% of my portfolio but I am gradually cognizant of my gambling addiction from the way I invest. I've recently lost 70% of my hard-earned money from previous investments and I am spending less time with my family and studies. Instead, I am on Reddit and chat rooms/forum talking about stocks all day. Shunning my responsibilities and neglecting my health in pursuit of immediate wealth.
The beginning:
  1. Stop using parent's money to gamble in risky/short term investments.
  2. Working towards returning most of the money to my parents.
  3. Investing the rest of the money in low-risk securities and index funds - S&P VTISAX. And refrain me from investing in individual stocks and also diversifying to bonds.
  4. Unsubscribed from chat rooms (stocks related) and also (sorry :() wallstreetbets, options pennystocks. Watching less financial news since it only gave me stress even when I was very into stocks.
  5. Deleted Robinhood/stock trading apps from my phone (bought index funds and uninstalled all apps - revisit after a few years)
  6. Focusing 100% on college. I've been neglecting my studies due to my obsession with stock picking and a bunch of unnecessary DDs on some companies you 've probably never heard of.
  7. Finding another hobby as a substitute. Piano, sports and coding. And taking courses on finance and math to satisfy my urges and learn more about the financial world beyond equities.
But all this is too hard. And I am so disappointed with myself. I want to cry but I have no one to talk to because I am very embarrassed at myself. It is going to take forever for me to recover financially. And if there is anything else that I want to say, stock market addiction is REAL and it is no better than gambling at the casino. Don't be obsessed with beating the market and I am probably going to be downvoted to oblivion because stock investments are not inherently bad as it is an incredibly smart way to increase a person's net worth but if you find yourself staring at the ticker all day and playing options/penny stocks/bad securities, then that is a sign. However, if you never day trade/buy options and invest without emotions, i.e. putting money into index funds every month, then go ahead and happy investing.

Make really good money using matched betting - Profit Accumulator (7 days for £1)

So this is one of those things I saw posted all the time on here and shrugged it off as I assumed it was just gambling, but it isn't. It takes all the risk out of it and you can make really good money from sign up offers alone, at bookies and casinos. There's no tricks or catches involved either.
I've used Profit Accumulator myself (there are others, OddsMonkey, Team Profit etc), the benefit being a very active forum with up to date offers, reload offers, and guides.
There's also a host of tools after sign up offers from catching extra places at the races, a blackjack calculator, a great oddsmatching tool which links you straight to the bookmakers to use, as well as lots of training videos and guides. Once you've done the first few the rest are a doddle.
If you've got a slightly higher risk tolerance, it's worth doing the casino offers daily too - each post gives an Estimated Value of the offer so you can see what you can look to gain. For example there's an offer on at Virgin Bet right now - wager £100 and gain 100 free spins. Depending on the expected RTP (Return to Player) % you can expect to make nice money from this especially if you hit a bonus round.
If you want low risk, then you can stick to purely doing matched betting using sportsbooks. For the larger sign up offers you'll need more leverage, which you'll get as you build up your money from doing the simple sign up offers.
Then there are reload offers. This is my main thing I do now before working from home every morning, takes 30 minutes to go through the forum find the best new offers posted and do them to earn an extra few hundred or so on average every month.
I'll only post my link for Profit Accumulator as I can really vouch for this if anyone wants to try it. They have a trial offer for £1 currently. You'll make back the £1 and then some in no time, i'm paying for the platinum membership as it's still well worth it after sign up.
Would be good to see what others do with matched betting and casino offers now, what your experiences are, and what the other sites are like. For now though here's the links to Profit Accumulator:

A veteran player's tired review of War Thunder

I'll preface by saying this is my steam review. I've played this game for far too long. I've seen the playerbase change from healthy and friendly to what it is now. I have no doubt in my mind I'm going to be brigaded, yelled at and called names for this post but it's the truth. Nobody always has fun with this game. Everyone knows we're being fleeced by the game but nobody cares. That desire to maybe have a little fun, maybe make it a little further, maybe get one more kill. It's what they want. They have turned a wonderful game into a casino where the dealer always wins. You'll win some. You'll have some fun. But it's not in Gaijin's best interest.
You're meant to be frustrated. You're meant to spend money. You are meant to wonder when the game gets fun. Tier 2? Tier 3? Tier 7? Is the Leopard 2A4 Fun? What about the Abrams? Will Thermals help? How did they shoot me through 300m of bushes? You. The Player. You are not rewarded for your time. You are not supposed to feel accomplished and if you complain about it, you need to Git Gud. Or so others say.
--STEAM REVIEW STARTS HERE--
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE PLAY THIS GAME
For context, I've been playing since Alpha. I've seen the good, the bad and what this game was promised to be. It is not that. They saw WoT as competition and based their model on that. Premium currency, premium tanks, a secondary "auction" currency and a lack of progress, promise-keeping and lack of direction has led this game down a dark hole it will never climb out of.
Thousands of hours (pre-steam launcher) and now 1000 on steam and this game has gone nowhere. From the old days of Kursk to the tired old skies of Europe, not much in this game has changed. Broken maps, one sided sight-lines, Ultra low quality players, lack of support and kneeling to the CCP. Nothing has changed.
Except of course the lies. "We will never add fire and forget missiles they said" - 2014
"We will never go past 1960"
"We will always make sure premium is not pay to win"
"We want a free and fun game for everyone."
With the release of tanks, were economy issues. Not enough tanks to play, so lower research gain. That was fair. When there was finally enough tanks to buff research gain, they buffed it. Then silently 2 weeks later raised how much it costs to research a tank by slightly more than the research buff was.
Converting XP used to be a 400:1 Lion:GE. So, in a way you could fairly transfer XP from your hard earned money. Now it's a 40:1. Your dollar is worth 10x less now in this game.
Like to be impenetrable from almost all angles except the rarely seen back of your turret? $250 CAD on the market will get you that. Oh yeah, did I mention ON TOP of having a Micro transaction research tree there's also a new built in market system like steam trading just for skins, tanks and other rare items. Where $1GJN (their currency) is worth almost $2 USD! But they don't tell you that when going to buy their currency.
So, not only can you pay the company to win, you can pay the players to win.
The maps haven't changed from 2012 and earlier except for some cosmetics. Maps are decidedly unbalanced and spawning on a certain side guarantees victory. The physics engine, despite being great for the time of development is now lacking. Tanks are invisible until they fire (Depending on settings/bandwidth), network errors will cripple your plane and sent you into the abyss, oh and to top it all off you can now buy a helicopter for $60 USD that allows you to spawn behind enemy lines and fire 48+ AP rockets at people as they spawn.
I've played this game since Alpha days. I've spent hundreds of dollars. I am somewhat addicted to this game because no other game comes close in what it does.
But they lie. The devs, the publishing committee, the forum Mods, Game Masters and PR. They want you to feel like you're having fun because it's a fucking sand-casino. Hundreds of dollars and hours of time you can spend in a game that doesn't suck your soul dry.
"Maybe this time." "One more match and I can get this tank" "12 more matches and it'll be easy mode" But no. research the craft you wanted for 4 months? Guess what, it has nerfed ammo, barely functioning engine, can't turn and your crew isn't high enough level to survive being /looked/ at by anything.
So, if you want to spend months, researching one tree, gambling on what it will be like, hoping it gets fun at high tiers, you're sorely mistaken. Time in, progress, loyalty and skill reward nothing in this game. You get shit on with the rest of the playerbase until you pay the snail for premium vehicles and a premium account. Past tier 3 you will not earn RP. You will not earn Lions, you will not be having fun and you WILL be wondering why you've spent so much time playing a game that offers no reward. Your progress in the game is based on wins and losses. You can end a game top of the board and still make as much RP as the player who did nothing. Win though? You''ll make 3x that.
Oh yeah. There's also boats.
Don't be like me. Don't play the sand casino. Run far away and play something else.

I told my partner about my problem

I want to open up about my story because I know how hard it can be to tell your partner and if I can at least help one person with my story it’s worth it.
I sporadically told my partner of my gambling problem. I didn’t walk into it with a plan, I didn’t have it written down, I just opened up about the situation and slowly took my time. Before telling her I let her know I let her down, I’ve been extremely selfish, none of this was her fault, it would be completely normal to feel an array of emotions now and over time including sadness, anger, etc and that if she wanted to leave me I would totally understand.
To provide context prior to ever meeting her I would have a punt on sports. I enjoyed doing it and I never went into debt so I didn’t believe it was a problem for me. I met my partner who hated gambling – she had family members that gambled at casinos and when she was a kid she would be left in a playground while the family bet on horses.
Even though I knew this I continued to do it – the way I saw it is that she had her money she could choose to do what she wanted, and I had my money and I could choose to do what I wanted to do with it.
Many, many years passed and we got married this month. My betting leading upto the wedding started to flair because the thought of paying for the wedding myself would have been amazing (this pressure was only brought on by myself; if I had just talked to my partner about it earlier it wouldn’t have happened). I started to lose more than I won - I thought I was just ‘unlucky’ because it was completely outlandish circumstances like a last minute intercept or a huge unlikely comeback. I didn’t talk to anyone about this – After all I got myself into this mess, I thought I had to get myself out of this. That’s when I hit rock bottom and I wanted to change..
I told her everything. Building up a debt, why I didn’t feel like I could tell her, wishing that I had told her earlier, how she deserved better.
The reality is we’re married now (as mentioned earlier just this month) – and down the track we’re looking to start a family. I can’t imagine dragging her or our future kids into this. I want to give them the best life possible.
Even after all of this she said she wasn’t going to leave me and that she loves me, and reinstated she doesn’t ‘need that type of (lavish) life’. My partner is the greatest thing that has ever happened in my life and I wouldn’t ever want to jeopardise this.
While I could sit here in sorrow and say I regret betting, I don’t. I feel like this has made me so much more aware in my life of what’s really important – a bigger perspective. I’m not ignoring that the feeling doesn’t suck, because it absolutely does. The shame, the disappointment, the waste of time and effort, etc. but now I can concentrate on the things that really matter.
There’s also a parallel universe out there where I did recoup the money, where I then went onto a huge winning streak and a debt never existed. The question is – does the problem still exist? My answer is yes. It’s a lifestyle, it takes away from you living your life.
There will also be many tests but I’m confident these can be overcome. There will also be triggers out there that can act as daily reminders such as my mother in law who ALWAYS, and ONLY, ever talks about money. What a time to be alive when you have a daily reminder right at your door step.
I really hope anyone else going through a similar experience is able to work it out. I understand opening up to a significant other is difficult (it’s a plunge into the unknown), there’s a reality where things could change permanently and potentially lead to a break up. There’s no secret to fixing this, you have to want to make that change for yourself.
For those of you that are looking to turn that corner please consider telling someone. Maybe you might not have a partner, or a family, or maybe you’re just not ready to tell, you can always reach post in these forums and even shoot me message. I’m always just a pm away.
You can do this.

Curious About This Opinion on Addicts vs. Recreational Partner Use of Pornography

Hello All,
A few months back, when I was not active on Reddit, I put this on my blog and it's still one of the most read posts and I have people telling me I nailed it and people telling me I'm dead wrong. I'm curious what this community thinks:
Sometimes, I find myself babbling during a podcast and stumble into something that makes a lot of sense I’d never put into words before. It’s kind of the same process as therapy, which is why I urge people to see a therapist, even if they only think they are babbling for 49 minutes. That 50th minute may be where the magic happens. Likewise, if you can get people to invite you onto their podcast, they’ll ask you questions and you’ll be forced to explore the answers.
Anyway, I’ve been reflecting on something I said a while back on a podcast, and have begun discussing it with a few people because it’s nothing I’ve heard before, but it’s something that just seems to make sense to me and I’d be curious if it makes sense to you.
For partners (yes, generally women dealing with a man, so forgive me if I do the non-PC thing and sometimes assume this is the arrangement) of any kind of addict, the partner is not the reason the addict got into their addiction. With addictions like gambling or drugs, this is just generally a given. Wives usually don’t wonder what they did wrong that caused their husband to be a video game addict and husbands don’t wonder what they did wrong to make their wives food addicts. The boyfriend didn’t make his girlfriend and alcoholic and the girlfriend didn’t make her boyfriend a cokehead.
This dynamic is often ignored or overlooked when it comes to porn addiction. The partner of the addict, upon learning of the addiction, will often go through a process called betrayal trauma that can last days, months or years. Essentially, it is the pain and hurt of both knowing that your partner was “living a double life” coupled with the pain that their addiction involved sex/nudity/other people, which crosses a certain line of harmful intimacy/cheating/betrayal in the mind of the non-addict. Often, it destroys relationships.
Now, here’s the thing. Regardless of the betrayal trauma occurring, the porn addict is sick. We know that they have a brain disease that is likely a system of a much bigger issue, including unresolved childhood trauma or another mental health issue. I don’t want to be seen minimizing the betrayal trauma, but it is not my focus right this second.
I can tell you that based on my story and based on the story of many true sex/porn addicts that I know, have interviewed, have met, etc., the addiction is never about lust. Never. In my case, my addiction allowed me to subconsciously create a false sense of control. I didn’t realize this while in my addiction, but it’s crystal clear now after six-plus years of recovery. I wasn’t an addict for the naked girls or taboo feeling of getting away with something. It was serving a need I had since early childhood, when I had my sense of safety regarding control taken away.
I can also tell you I didn’t drink (I was an alcoholic as well) because it tasted good or I liked the social lubricant. I’d say 95% of my drinking was done alone, isolated, simply to numb my brain to the point I wasn’t thinking beyond the very surface.
Cocaine addicts don’t snort because it’s fun to watch white powder disappear. Video game addicts don’t sit in front of the TV or computer for 15 hours because they appreciate fine digital graphics. Food addicts don’t like cake that much more than you and I. All addicts have a brain disease happening. It’s not about the substance or behavior. It’s about the subconscious pleasure, safety or sense of wellbeing the addictive behavior or substance provides, and it becomes the priority in life.
I think it’s also important to mention that almost all addicts suffer a decreased sex drive and need for intimacy, except in those who are abusing stimulants like cocaine, or those who have just experienced a chemical-induced high. For the most part though, especially in males, there’s enough science to show that there is usually a slowing or shutting down of the libido. Ask a heroin addict how important sex and/or intimacy is to them.
So back to porn addiction. Why do female partners suffer from such betrayal trauma? I believe it has nothing to do with the addiction itself. I think the fact that there may be an addiction is often forgotten and lost in the betrayed person’s mind. They focus on the perceived intimacy/fantasy with another person that comes with their partner’s use of pornography. When the man embraces the fantasy, it usually ends with an orgasm – just as the act of intercourse does. If intercourse is supposed to be “sacred” and reserved for only the partner, it’s understandable why they are hurt.
In researching my second book, learning these women’s stories and reading many of them on online forums where they post and receive advice, it stuck out to me that while many of these women clearly had partners who had an addiction, others had partners who seemed to just have a basic relationship with pornography, and simply caught their partner looking and had no real evidence to reach a conclusion that he was an actual addict.
I’ve come to wonder how often this kind of betrayal trauma happens with the female partners of men who are not porn addicts, because I think these are the female partners who really have to worry.
We all know the person who can have the occasional beer or two, or the person who can play video games for an hour and then put it away for several days. I visit a casino two or three times a year with my wife, never lose more than $40 and always walk away if I’m lucky enough to win $100. I don’t bet on sports or play the lottery, so I’m not sure if I can even be called a recreational gambler, but let’s just say I am for the sake of this post.
Let’s say for whatever reason, my wife was 100% anti-casino and anti-gambling. Maybe her father gambled away her college fund or her mother lost the family house…whatever. If she were to ask me never to gamble again, I would not have a hard time walking away from it. I find it fun watching the reels of the slot machine spin, but it’s a moment I wouldn’t miss if it disappeared from my life.
Let’s say some friends ask me to meet them for steaks and blackjack this weekend at the casino. I have three choices as I see it: I can decide not to go because I want to follow my wife’s wishes, I can tell her that I got the offer and gauge her response then decide accordingly, or I can not to tell her and/or lie about it, and just go.
If I go without telling her, it doesn’t make me a gambling addict. I may want to see my friends, do something without her, have a steak…whatever. Let's also assume I continue to stay within my “lose $40/win $100” gambling rule I’ve set for myself. Let’s say that my friends make a plan to do this once a month. It may be my only chance to see some of them, I appreciate the camaraderie, whatever, but I decide to make it a regular thing. This also does not make me a gambling addict.
It makes me a serial liar. It makes me someone who puts my own wants above some very specific boundaries set by my partner. It reveals a self-centeredness that shows I’m probably not a very good partner. But it doesn’t make me a gambling addict.
Now let’s consider the guy who looks at pornography but is not an addict. I absolutely believe that most people who use pornography, both men and women, are looking for little more than visual stimulation to help them achieve an orgasm. It's just about getting off for most people.
I believe that these people (who, statistically, are the vast majority of society in the under-50 group of men and under 35 group of women) learned along the way that they can satisfy their sexual needs with a self-induced orgasm. Masturbation is a selfish thing, but nobody understands how to work your equipment better than you do.
Intimate lovemaking is a wonderful thing, but sometimes in the eyes of many, just having sex with somebody they barely know can be the release they need, even if there is no love or true intimacy involved. Again, not moralizing or judging, just recognizing a fact. Sex doesn't always come with love. And sometimes, despite the option that intimate lovemaking exists with a partner or there are "friends with benefits" out there, a person simply wants to experience the faster release of self-orgasm because they are not in the mood/too tired/whatever to invest what is necessary for mutually beneficial lovemaking/intercourse.
I do not believe that the non-porn addict becomes an addict when they opt for occasionally masturbating over having sex with their partner.
But, like with my gambling example, what if the female partner views pornography as a reprehensible thing? What if she views her partner’s masturbation as a slap in the face and rejection? She has every right to set those boundaries, but does his breaking them without her knowledge automatically mean that he’s an addict? Of course not. Does lying about it automatically make him an addict? Not at all.
Yes, addicts lie. So do husbands and boyfriends who are caught doing something they shouldn’t. Addiction and lying are horrible character traits, but they are not mutually exclusive. One involves a disease and the other is just about covering one’s tracks. Five-year-old kids lie. Politicians lie. Salespeople lie. That doesn’t make them addicts.
Here’s the most important distinction between the addict and the liar who uses pornography: One is mentally and physically programmed beyond their control, the other just likes to get off. Addiction is certainly nothing I’d wish on anybody or their partner having gone through it with porn and alcohol, but I wasn’t using just to get off. In truth, when my porn addiction was at its worst, there was no “grand finale” orgasm. I wasn’t using it for sexual gratification – I don’t think I ever was. Yes, frequency of intercourse with my wife slowed down, but I got a very different need met when I was with her vs. when I was utilizing pornography throughout the first 11 years of our marriage before my addiction came to light.
I believe the recreational user is getting the exact same need met when they look at porn and masturbate vs. when they have actual intercourse. Yes, there may be a fluctuation in the intimacy level, but I believe the recreational user choosing to use porn is simply looking for the orgasm and uses pornography as a visual aid.
The next question becomes is it better to be with a partner who has a disease of the brain that has nothing to do with you, or do you want to be with someone who has no pre-existing condition and is consciously choosing porn over you?
I’m not going to debate that human emotion is a tricky subject and that betrayal trauma shouldn’t register regardless of your answer to that question, but if I was in the situation of so many women who discover that their partner is looking at porn, I’d take some selfish comfort in knowing it was a disease and not a rejection of me.
Am I crazy here? Am I correct? Assuming I am anti-pornography, I would be more concerned about my role in my partner’s viewing of pornography if they were not an addict vs. if they are. Being an addict is an extenuating circumstance. Being a liar just means your partner is an asshole.
